Employee Spotlight – Jeff Allison

Written by admin

Understanding the journey of innovation means hearing from those at its core. Jeff Allison, Vice President of Operations at Delta CleanTech, shares his perspective on navigating the path forward, the continuous improvement of carbon capture solutions, and what drives his commitment.

How do you stay motivated and resilient when facing the complex challenges of the clean energy transition?

The energy transition has been happening for the past 20 years. We go through stops and starts every couple of years. You have to be steadfast in your belief in both the people and the technology and hope that the market will break once and for all. I’m energized to see a project I have been working on for over 20 years finally succeed.

What is one of the biggest challenges or misconceptions about carbon capture, and how are we working to address it at Delta?

  1. It is too costly. Delta has worked for many years to reduce costs and provide additional products and services that offset costs to customers.
  2. The emissions from the capture process are harmful, releasing toxic chemicals like nitrous amines. Delta’s technology ensures that harmful emissions are virtually nonexistent, with levels less than parts per billion.

Can you share a “win” or a moment of success you’ve experienced that made you feel like you were making a real difference?

When Delta successfully commissioned one of its plants within one week of start-up. It shows that we know what we are doing in both design and fabrication.

When you think about Delta’s core values (Figure it Out, Disruption for the Better, Work Hard, and Good Vibes, Great Energy), which one resonates most strongly with you, and why?

Work hard. To succeed in marketing your product, you must consistently engage with new customers. The more mud you throw against the wall, the more that is going to stick.

Delta’s Guarantee is “Your success, our promise. Guaranteed.” How does this show up in the work you do?

Your best referrals come from happy customers. The Alberta oil patch is highly interconnected, and people frequently discuss your successes and failures.

How do you see Delta’s work shaping the future of energy and sustainability?

Everyone recognizes the issues caused by greenhouse gas emissions, such as climate change and forest fires. Delta offers a commercial solution to address these problems, which just needs to be implemented.
